U.N.-Arab League peace envoy Kofi Annan will meet with President Michel Sleiman Thursday upon arriving in Lebanon from Amman, Jordan, the National News Agency reported.
Annan will meet with the president at 5:30 p.m. at Baabda Palace. The peace envoy is expected to arrive in Beirut's Rafik Hariri International Airport at approximately 3 p.m.
Annan, who drafted the peace plan aimed at ending 14 months of bloodshed in Syria, was in Syria Tuesday, where he met with President Bashar Assad and told him that his country was at a tipping point.
More than 13,000 people, mostly civilians, are estimated by monitors to have been killed since an uprising erupted against Assad's regime in March 2011.
During his visit to Lebanon, Annan is also expected to meet with Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri and Prime Minister Najib Mikati -- the latter upon his arrival from Turkey Friday.
