
Prominent Algerian legendary singer Warda has passed away at the age of 73 after encountering a sudden heart attack in her Cairo home. Family and close contacts to the singer have confirmed the death as well as most Algerian media sources.
This comes as quite a shock, given recent news of the pan-Arab-ess singing giant singing on and on and pulling out all the stops to re-connect with her long-time fans.
According to the internet website MBC.net, close contacts to the singer said her that friends attempted to call her personal cellular phone to inquire whether the news was true and they received confirmation from her family that revealed she died of a heart attack while at home.
It was said that the late singer's - known as the Algerian Rose (Warda Aljazairia)- health had gradually deteriorated after being mired in a number of family disputes along with numerous attacks against her from members of the entertainment world asking her to resign from her singing career to maintain her image.
It is believed that Warda’s body will be flown back to Algeria where a proper funeral ceremony will be held.
